Family Origins — How Oehler became Oler
The Oler line began in Botenheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, recorded as Öhler / Oehler back to Joerg Oeler (b. 1492, Heilbronn). The first to come to America was Georg Heinrich "Henry" Öhler, b. 31 Oct 1718 in Botenheim; he immigrated to colonial Virginia in the early 1740s (married c. 1744) and settled in Madison County, VA, dying 28 Aug 1806.
